Replacing a Furnace Blower Motor


1. Remove the fan unit, disassemble, and clean the parts.   Get a new motor.



2. Assemble the motor mount. Ensure that the wires are positioned correctly, and that the ring is centered, straight and tight.

Insert the fan in the housing. Make sure it goes in the right way.

Slide the motor shaft through the fan bushing and attach the fan mount to the housing.



5.
Position the fan on the shaft such that it does not contact the housing, and tghten the set screw against the the flat of the shaft.




6.
Replace the housing extender plate.



7.
Mount the new capacitor, wire on a line cord, and test for smooth, balanced operation, and correct direction of rotation.




8.
Pre-dress the wires.




9.
Cut the connector from the old motor.




10.
Attach the connector, bug the wires, and final dress them, ensuring a neat tight package, with flex for vibration.




11.
Reinstall the happy fan unit, and test. Hind Sight - vacuum out the enclosure before mounting the fan unit.
