PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE SERVICE

Saves you $money$!

Optimizes safe, efficient operation!
Prolongs the life of your appliance!

Preventive Maintenance is important!

I test, CLEAN, inspect, repair, lubricate, tighten, and retest the workings of:
Dryers and  Refrigerators (non-freon repairs)

Preventive Maintenance explained:

Some appliances (more than others)  require a clean, dust and lint free environment to operate correctly, efficiently, and safely.    Regardless of how clean the area around the appliance might be, underneath and inside could be (and usually is) a whole other ball game.

Refrigerators and some air conditioners get clogged up with dust.  It makes them have to work harder, and run longer to do their job.   It costs more for energy, and it shortens the life of expensive parts.  The Refrigerator PM is mostly a thorough coil/fan/compressor cleaning, but other problem areas, such as door gaskets, and air ports are inspected, as well.

A refrigerator preventive maintenance service is recommended yearly.   It really helps, and in many cases it will be noticeable how little the refrigerator needs to run.

Dryer "PM":

With regard to dryers, the big issue is lint.   Everyone knows that a dryer's lint filter needs to be cleaned with each use.   What they might not know is that there is a lot of lint that doesn't get trapped by the filter.   That lint, being damp and sticky, continually accumulates throughout the entire venting system of the dryer.   Usually, the clogging starts in the house vent pipes and causes the accumulation inside the dryer.

Being all clogged up, the dryer cannot efficiently blow the warm, wet air out of the dryer, so it takes longer and longer to dry a load of wash.
That's a waste of time, and a BIG waste of money for the energy needed.    But, also, since the lint cannot be blown out of the dryer, it gets even worse, and worse, and it starts to build up all throughout the machine.   The dryer might seem to be "working fine",  but "fine" is not so fine.   The thing has to run, and run, and eventually the effects of excess lint are going to cause a failure in one (or more) of the internal working parts.
Another big concern is FIRE!   "15,000 house fires per year" are caused by dirty, lint filled dryers.

Cleaning out the dryer is no simple task.   It requires, more or less, complete dis-assembly of the unit to access the areas of accumulated lint.
Preventive maintenance is more than just a super clean out job, though.

Here is the Dryer reconditioning procedure of a full blown Preventive Maintenance service:
 1.  Functionally test.
 2.  Disassemble almost completely (as completely as needed to do the job well).
 3.  Clean and wash inside and out.
 4.  Inspect for worn or faulty mechanical parts, and replace as required.
 5. R
eplace electrical parts as necessary.
 6.  Remove old grease, and newly lubricate.
 7.  Inspect seals and gaskets, and replace them if they're shot.

9.  Check all electrical and gas connections.
 9.  Reassemble the machine good and tight.
10.  Re-test the dryer, and check for smooth, quiet operation.

I'll also inspect and clean any venting pipes that I can, based on length and accessibility.    Clean-out of the vent pipes that are very long, or concealed in walls or an enclosed ceiling space is a job for professional pipe cleaners, such as a Heating Duct cleaning service or Chimney Sweep.

I recommend a preventive maintenance "renewal" service with most repairs, unless the dryer is unusually clean inside.
I don't think that it makes a lot of sense to replace as failed part, but not to renew the dryer while it's open.   Unless the internal working conditions are made to be ideal in addition to replacing a part, the repair might be just a Band-Aid, and it could fail again, or the failure of another part, unchecked, could be right around the corner.

It makes sense to check it all out, and spiff it all up like new even if no real problems are found under the lint.   If problems are found, you were just going to encounter them anyway, but in either case, you are sitting pretty with a known reliable, and optimally cranked up machine.

Any parts that are replaced will be done so only as authorized, after discussion and display of the necessity.   In other words, if I find something really bad, I'll tell you that it is needed.   If it's kind of bad, but not too bad, you might not want to go all out on parts.  Warranties would be fair, depending on the particular situation.

The benefits of the Preventive Maintenance service, or a Repair/PM service are clear:
1.  Safety.   It's a fresh start.  The risk of a lint fire is eliminated.
2.  Reliability.  Everything is checked, tightened, lubed, replaced as needed, and tested.   Every effort is made to ward off a possible failure.
3.  Efficiency.  The dryer will work with the best efficiency it has to offer, like it did coming off of the showroom floor.  You'll be spending the least amount that you possibly could for its operating energy.
